Management Development Programme (MDP)

MDP Level I – First Time Managers
(4 days)

Young, new people spend the first couple of years in their career/organizations as individual contributors. Here the focus of development is on personal excellence and managing self. The next step is managing others.

The progressive next step is to move from managing self to managing others. This programme supports Managers in this transition period. The focus of the programme is on developing attitudes and skills needed to shift from “Doing the work yourself” to “Getting it done from others.” The terminal objective of this programme is to support managers in the transition period of movement from managing self to managing others. The shift is from doing the work yourself to getting work done by others.

Programme Objectives:

  • Internalize the shift of working as a self manager to managing others
  • Develop skills and attitudes required to be effective in the role.
  • Learn tools and techniques needed to help others to perform effectively.
  • Learn to work in a team

Content:

Pre Study

  • Meeting with stakeholders
  • 360 degree Assessment
  • Identify and study behaviors of “Identified role models” in the organization
  • Measurement and impact criteria and process

 

The Programme

  • Define the role of a first time manager
  • Imbibe the attitudes and skills required to be an effective First Time Manager. (win: win, accountability, trust)
  • Inspiring attitudes, the cornerstone for successfully managing others
  • Develop interpersonal skills like communication/listening/assertiveness/conflict management
  • Learn the process of managing others (People development, delegation, review, tracking)
  • Effective execution skills for team performance
  • Learn to work as a team.

  • Holistic Approach of experimenting/reflection/applying back to live situations at work.
